FBN Asia is a regional chapter of FBN International, a private not-for-profit organisation representing family businesses in 65 countries across 5 continents. Based in Singapore, FBN Asia covers Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand. The network offers a unique and safe space for its members to share best practices and ideas on how to grow, succeed and prosper in their family, business and personal spheres.

Led “By Families, For Families”, the regional chapter also addresses issues prevalent in Asian family businesses – particularly in the areas of business transition, family dynamics, leadership succession, strategic philanthropy and active citizenship. It thrives on the principles of trust, confidentiality, mutual respect and non-solicitation to facilitate intimate sharing and exchange of wisdom.

    Sky Shi represents the 2nd Generation of Topwin Group, the leading real estate development and management group in China. He is currently in charge of real estate, commercial mall, investment, hotel management, golf court management sectors. He established Tong Qu FoF Fund focusing on high technology and pharmaceutical industries, and started upgrading of Topwin Shopping Mall into T-One which will become the trendy landmark of Beijing City. He created marketing strategies for selling penthouse apartments with total value of $1.2 billion US dollars.

    Sky Shi leads the hotel team earning Intercontinental Beijing Sanlitun, truly luxury flagship property, the ultimate Ultra Luxury Hospitality recognition of the prestigious Forbes 5-star rating and is recognized as one of the best hotels worldwide. Sky Shi is planning on the establishment of family office business.

    Sky Shi obtained his Master's degree from Peking University. He co-found RENET, one of the largest network for overseas Chinese students in 2009.

     

    Dr. Gao Hao

    Gao Hao, Director of the Global Family Business Research Center at Tsinghua University, and Deputy Director of the Green Finance Research Center. He has served as a director and expert group member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council, a member of the China Federation of Industry and Commerce Think Tank Committee, and a director of the China Enterprise Reform and Development Research Association. China Director and Public Policy Subcommittee Chairman of the International Society of Trust and Estate Planning (STEP), Co-Chief Editor of "Wealth Management", Chief Editor of the "Family Business Governance" and "Family Wealth Inheritance" series, etc.

    Founded in 2015, the Global Family Business Research Center focuses on areas of family business governance and inheritance, wealth management, family office, and family trust. To date, the center has published dozens of papers and cases and on academic journals and mainstream financial newspapers at home and abroad. Besides, it has engaged in in-depth cooperation with world-renowned institutions such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, World Economic Forum and UBS to provide intellectual support for the long-term development of private enterprises, sustainable economic development and other important global issues. Nowadays, the center is becoming a well-known think tank with international influence in the fields of family business and wealth management.

    Mr. Xu Ji

    Mr. Xu Ji is the grandson of China's top artist Xu Beihong, Director of Exhibition and Collection Department of Xu Beihong Memorial Hall. Mr. Xu Ji will share how art is connected with family spirit and mottos, and passed down for generations.

     Xu Beihong has been adhering to art as his pursuit of life throughout his life. He breaks away from decadence, learns from nature, and respects reality. In terms of creative techniques, he integrates Western scientific light and shadow, perspective, structure, and color with traditional Chinese ink. He integrated the Western oil painting with Chinese freehand spirit, which formed truly unique style. The most important thing is that he influenced a generation of like-minded peer artists and outstanding students with his aesthetic concept. The collision and interpenetration of art and the times have continued to influence Chinese culture to this day.

    ByteDance's Cloud Service Innovation - Volcengine

    As enterprise-level technical service business segment in Chinese internet giant ByteDance, Volcengine made its debut and released a full range of cloud products including cloud infrastructure, video and content distribution, data processing and artificial intelligence, with a total of 78 services.

    Cloud-native architecture enables Volcengine to better support cloud interconnect and cross-cloud collaboration. In order to build an open cloud ecosystem, Volcengine launched a plan with the goal of uniting 1,000 partners throughout the next three years to help 100,000 customers realize digital transformation.

    Volcengine provides end-to-end performance optimization, from basic hardware to business scenarios based on ByteDance large-scale practice and technological innovation. Since its launch in June 2020, Volcengine has made ByteDance's technical tools open source globally. At present, it serves industries including internet, smartphone, finance, automobiles and advanced manufacturing.

    Wu Detai Tea, with 388 years history, 12-generation succession

    Wu Detai Tea is the tea brand with the longest documented history in China. In the late Ming Dynasty, Wu Lihua, the founder of "Wu Detai", opened a retail store in Beijing as his own tea shop outside Zhengyang Gate in Beijing, now in the very core center of Beijing City. So far, Wu Detai has been passed down for twelve generations, 388 years. Having experienced changes such as dynasty changes, wars and disasters, Wu Detai's successive owners have upheld the tradition of being an honest man, and won the recognition and appreciation of tea drinkers, which makes the brand still shine today. 

    On December 18, 2015, "Wu Detai", resumed business after 50 years pending. Mr. Wu Chenghao, the 12th generation inheritor holds a strong belief that the inheritance of family spiritual culture is more important than the inheritance of wealth. He reveals the secret that Wu Detai family has been able to stand out for 388 years: Family elders attach great importance to education; Each generation's sense of identity with family history; A stable carrier for family culture inheritance.

    XiTang Art Center

    XI TANG 觽堂, an exclusive art center (not open to public) with more than 20 Chinese top artists studios gathering here, in the fields of painting, sculpture, jade carving, Guqin, papermaking, film production, architecture design, etc. Based on the principle of "Chinese tradition art expressed by contemporary cultural language", they strive to promote traditional wisdom and craftsmanship spirit through their own artistic creation, so that XI TANG hasconstantly gained the vitality.

    In ancient times, "XI 觽" was a tool used to untie the knots. Our ancestors wore a Xi as asymbol that they were able to solve problems. The name of "XI TANG" is from the original intention to learn wisdom of ancestors, untie the knots of life and innerself.

    Dining experience in Hidden Temple

    The Jing Yuan Temple is located in the very center of Beijing, and yet is far removed from the crowds, the bustle. It is a well kept secret, a real haven of peace. It has been restored to be most unique venues for restaurant and art gallery. Its restaurant TRB is lauded as one of the best fine dining experiences in Beijing.

    The history of the area where The Temple stands today spans 600 years. Under the Ming dynasty, imperial printing workshops were located here and churned out Buddhist sutras for Beijing's many temples. Between 1711-1756, the area became a center for teaching and spreading religious knowledge, a place where prayers and chants resonated.

    In the event that a registered participant is not able to attend, the registration may be transferred to a substitute participant from the same family business.

     

    Cancellations:

    If a registered participant needs to cancel his/her registration, the following terms will apply:

    Before 15 April 2024: 50% refund

    From 15 April 2024 onwards: No refund.

    Please note a formal written notice is required for transfer of registration and cancellation. All refunds will be processed within 30 days after the event.
